Coordinator Welcome Address

Welcome to the Community Based Experience and Services (COBES) programme of the College of Health sciences which was set with a vision to pursue a different academic curriculum which will be Student-centered, Community-based and Problem-solving. In COBES, effective use of educational resource and objectives are utilized to make the students take responsibilities for their own learning while been guided by the teachers. The curriculum is structured to foster and encourage students' learning in the effective way that is student-centered, rather than through traditional didactic lectures. Students are posted to host community with specific objectives of entering the community, identifying peculiar health and social problems, participate in solving such problems and give feed backs that would impact the living conditions of host communities. COBES was initially limited to the medical trainee but now expanded to other trainee students of the college in an integrated manner to encourage greater collaboration between the students studying the various disciplines at the College and also to improve the benefits to the host community.
